Our planet is at risk and it’s up to us all to do our part to save it. Easier said than done. There are many ways to reduce your carbon footprint, but many are unsure where they should begin or if they’re doing enough.

Thankfully, there are three easy steps to help you reduce your carbon footprint today!

Insulate Your Home

Conserve energy by insulating your home. Any modern home should have double-glazed windows at the bare minimum. Extra insulation would not go amiss, especially in the winter when the temptation to turn up the thermostat might run rampant.

On the flipside of that, in hotter months, instead of running an aircon unit all day, try opening windows and shutting curtains to keep the heat out. This is a much more sustainable and eco-friendly.

Eat More Organic/Locally Sourced Food

A significantly high amount of carbon emissions comes from transported food. Helping reduce this by investing in more locally-sourced and organic food will help out the environment significantly. It will also help refuse plastic waste, which is a massive plus.

The trouble with transported goods is that it requires petrol to accomplish this. Fertiliser also relies on fossil-fuels, so cutting down on the transported goods will reduce your carbon footprint by a huge amount.

Reuse, Reduce and Recycle

Don’t just throw something away! If it can be recycled, recycle it. And this doesn’t just mean throw something in the recycling bin. If you need a pencil pot or somewhere to keep your hair combs, use and old jam jar, or give an old piece of furniture/clothing to a charity shop so someone else can benefit from using it.
