How to Upkeep a Clean Drain System

Keeping a drainage system squeaky clean doesn’t have to be difficult. As a matter of fact, it’s probably a lot easier than you might believe. Whether it be kitchen sinks, bathtubs or even outdoor drains, there are plenty of effective ways to help keep a healthy drain.

Today, we’ve got three tips to help keep on top of cleaning your drains so you don’t have to deal with bigger problems further down the road.

Hot Water

Whenever you empty a sink full of hot water after doing the washing up, you’re doing your drainage system a huge favour. Of course, even just pouring boiling water down the sink once a week can do wonders in keeping it clean.

All those unwanted oils on the surface of pipes don’t have to get so bad that you need drain cleaner when you can simply pour very hot water down any drain.

Drain Guards

Many people already know this, but drain guards do a lot to prevent unwanted waste from going down drains. Whether that be food, hair or any other piece of unwanted dirt, the drain guard will catch a lot of it and stop it from clogging the drain.

It’s also a pretty green method as the more you use a drain guard, the less need you will have to resort to strong chemicals found in drainage cleaners. It’s also less hassle and less money for you to spend in the long run.

Be Vigilant

If you think your drain has an issue already, it’s best to tackle it now than wait a week or even a few days to fix it. The longer you wait, the worse your problem will get and you don’t want to end up with a flood on your hands, or worse.
