3 Crazy Things That People Have Found in Their Pipes

The ground underneath our feet has always been a mystery to us; even what lurks in our plumbing systems can come as a complete shock. Here are three times that people got more than they bargained for when they looked in their pipes.

1

In Texas, USA someone had quite a shock when they looked down an underground drain and saw an alligator writhing around down below! It seems that the poor critter had slunk down there during a storm and got stuck. They managed to pull him out and return him to the swamp that he came from.

See you later alligator!

Closer to home in London, a hand grenade was found in a sewer pipe underneath a residential area. Although it was a very worrying discovery, no one was hurt during the course of extracting the grenade and deactivating it. No one is exactly sure how the hand grenade got there, but it is thought that it might have been accidentally disposed of at some point.

Talk about starting your morning off with a bang.

In Nagano, Japan, there was a slightly more exciting discovery in the sewage pipes in the form of £36,000 in pure gold. The gold was originally thought to have been a smuggler’s secret stash, but now they think that the gold can from precision instruments used by workers at a Water Treatment Facility.

I’ll bet the plumber thought he’d hit the jackpot!
