Urban ‘Trees’

From Singapore’s Super Trees to Berlin’s man-made ‘CityTree’, scientists are getting creative with how we see the environment around us. These man-made ‘trees’ are created with the intention of multiplying the oxygen benefits of natural trees and generating a cleaner atmosphere in the world’s most polluted cities.

As pollution increases, the natural benefits of trees will become more and more important to urban areas and scientists are thinking ahead to the future. these urban ‘trees’ may become the new normal in many over-populated cities.

You can see these urban ‘tree’ examples here and here.

Allotment Gardening

The demand for organic and locally-sourced produce is growing and many are turning to allotment gardening, not just as a hobby but as a way of sustaining fresh fruit and vegetables for themselves and their families.

The fear of GMOs had bred a new business opportunity for smaller agricultural companies that have home-grown produce to sell and is also inspiring individuals to go out and get themselves a patch of land to tend. And this tending trend is only going to get bigger.

So, now’s the time to dive into allotment gardening if you haven’t already!

Solar Power

Solar power is an idea that has been debated among scientists for years as a viable source of energy. There are still questions to be asked regarding whether solar power will ever be our primary source of energy, but there’s no denying that it’s a growing ecological trend that will only become more prevalent this year.

Many smaller start-up companies are basing their services around the benefits of solar power and are looking to take part in upcoming business shows to display their solar-powered creations, such as energy absorbing panels and mechanical equipment.

Climate Control

Climate change is another ecological issue that has been hotly debated recently, but what no one is arguing about is that there is a strong desire from many environmentalists to change the way we think about our carbon footprint.

Energy-saving endeavours such as renewable energy and campaigns to control our carbon emissions are steadily increasing and is set to be a huge trend in 2019. How do you contribute to reducing your carbon footprint? Now’s the time to think about it!
