Lincolnshire is a sprawling, beautiful county in the north of England. With such a long history and with many places to visit, there’s so much to see and do.

Since our lovely office at Bates Environmental is in Spalding, we thought we’d offer up our take on what the best things to see and do are in Lincolnshire.

Lincoln Cathedral

Opening times: Monday to Saturday, 7.15am to 6pm. Sunday, 7.15am to 5pm

(In July and August the Cathedral is open until 8pm weekdays and 6pm weekends)

Entry Price: Adults: £8, Children: £4.80, Under 5s go FREE (no charge before 9am or after 4:30pm)

Situated in the heart of Lincoln itself, Lincoln Cathedral is described as one of Europe’s finest gothic buildings. It’s rich with history, beautiful to look upon, and has many activities for kids and adults alike. Also, watch out for the Lincoln Imp which tends to hide in the walls of the cathedral. For the best experience, we recommend a guided tour that can include the roof and the tower.

Rushmoor Country Park Farm

Opening Times: Monday – Sunday, 10am to 5pm (April to September)

Price: Adults and children 2 years and above: £6.75, Children 0-2: FREE

Perfect for a family day out, Rushmoor Country Park Farm is a great venue in Louth with lots of animals to meet and enjoy. Get up close and have a hands on experience with your favourite animals! There are also plenty of hawk and owl shows throughout the day as well as pony rides, animal feeding and petting.

Skegness Beach

Opening Times: All day

Paddling pools, donkey rides and a pier, Skegness has lots to offer if it’s a nice day and you fancy going to the beach. Lots of sand to sunbathe on with nice open waters right in front of you, you’re also close by to the Fantasy Island theme park and the butterfly conservatory at Natureland. Did we mention Skegness has an award-winning beach? Even more reason to pay a visit!

Grimsthorpe Castle

Opening Times: Monday to Thursday, 11am to 6pm. Friday to Saturday, CLOSED. Sunday to 11am to 6pm

Price: Adults: From £6. Children (5-18): From £2.50

Finally, we go to Grimsthorpe Castle in Bourne. Built by the architect Sir John Vanbrugh in the 13th century, the castle has a large quadrangular house with a central courtyard. There are many corridos with paintings, furniture and tapestries to explore, plus extensive grounds with a play area for the kids. The 3000 acre park is also home to plenty of wildlife.
